I have a launch 60 GB fully BC PS3. Is there a way to play backups without using the "PS2 Classics" method?

Hey all; thread topic says it all. I have a launch US PS3 that plays PS2 games fully without using emulation so it has a flawless compatibility rate. I am seeing I can finally run PS2 ISOs from the internal hard drive thanks to the new Rogero firmware, however it seems as though it's using a PS2 emulator.
I'd rather not go the emulation route since my PS3 actually has PS2 hardware inside it. I know that for all PS3 Slim owners emulation is your only choice, but I have a fully BC PS3. Is there any way using Rogero to have the games play from the hard drive without using this "PS2 Classics" mode?
Thanks so much in advance; longtime member for a reason!
The Cobra dongle will utilize your BC hardware for PS2 back ups.
Yep, that much I know but I was wondering if there was a way to do this without the Cobra. I'd like to fully get rid of it but that's preventing me!
