    Hello every1,

I'm on kmeaw 3.55 and playing Gran Turismo 5 these days. Polyphony recently brought 2.0 & 2.01 updates in which they've fixed some bugs and added new cars. And being on kmeaw, this update scenario is confusing me a lot.

First of all, can i update Gran Turismo 5? When I'll update it, the new eboot will replace the old eboot and maybe the new eboot is encrypted with new firmware keys which then again 3.55CFW won't understand.

Second question only applies if the above is yes. Should I apply the updates one by one (step by step) in hierarchical order or should I just update with the last two updates 2.0 & 2.01 and they will do the trick?

I'm pretty scared to update GT5 'coz if the update doesn't works it'll ofcourse bring more trouble than help. I want to know if I can apply updates to GT5 then how can I do that in a right way?

    BTW - my GT5 version is BCES00569.

    Thnx for reading

You can only update to 1.09 - Thats the last available that works on 3.55. Install 1.01, then 1.02 all way upto 1.09.

Don't worry so much about updating games. Updates don't change the actual game data. They install into a separate location on your internal drive. If you update and the game stops working, then delete the game data (not the game) and reinstall updates up to a known working version. Your savedata is also in a separate location and is safe. Worst case scenario is when you relaunch the game if there was install data then you'll have to wait while it reinstalls. And yes, you should install updates in order because if you start with a higher version update and then try to install a lower version update, you will be denied. Some games that doesn't mean anything, but some like Pain you'll end up losing features. The only time you shouldn't update a game is if you had to use a patched eboot like the recently released Battlefield 3 or Uncharted 3. Duplex's PSN games is another example of games not to update past the cracked files

Don't sweat it, When you have time look at the file structure on your PS3 and you'll see what I'm talking about. All install/update data goes in dev_hdd0/game. All backup games go in dev_hdd0/GAMES or dev_hdd0/GAMEZ. I'm not sure but i think your savedata is in dev_hdd0/PS3/SAVEDATA. You never have to worry about overwriting anything by updating. Everything is stored separately

But what if you want to play Spec2 version? isn't there a patched version of it yet? Is it difficult to do? Has anyone tried using ebootMOD on it?

@Xtince, you can either Google 'GT5 Updates' and download each of the updates to your computer before loading them onto a USB and then updating from the XMB of your PS3, or you can just agree to update at the 2.01 prompt and it will start updating and say you have 'X' number of updates before it begins.

If you haven't updated your GT5 game at all since you backed it up, the first update downloaded with be 1.05, then 1.06 (both of these are large 300mb+ each), and then 1.07, 1.08 and then 1.09 - where you want to be. It won't say what it's downloading so you have to count the downloads before you press (O) to cancel.

So, breaking that down further, if you've never updated, you will allow 5 updates happen and then cancel to be on 1.09.

    Hope that helps.

@tand00ri, spec2 will not work with even after eboot MOD. Only way to play that at this stage is to update your fw unfortunately..

Hi, can anyone please give a heads up on CFW 4.30, Multiman 4.16?
What updates are eligible, do i need to take some extra steps like EbootFix. Please make it noob friendly.

    Thanks
