Extract game update pkg direct to game folder? –

Hello,
is there a way to apply a game update pkg directly to the folder on my external harddrive?
Or is the only way to open each pkg file in xmb??
And one more question, if a game on my disk is on version 1.00 and updates are available up to version 1.06 must i install each update seperately (first 1.01, then 1.02.....) or is it enough when i download and install the latest update for each game?
Regards

Extract PKG and copy contents to GameID folder overwriting all old "duplicated" files.
About second question: For some games, developers using only one package with all previous updates, for others many patches which you of course must install in chronologically order. Just check for updates on Sony servers, if they list more than one, it seems you must install all.

I dont think this will work....
What iam trying to do is to apply a game update pkg directly on the game data folder on external (on PC or on PS3) so that there is no need to install several updates via "install package" in XMB. I want to have the games in actual versions on my external, and dont want to install game and then apply several patches.
Is this possible??
