Hey guys, I've tried manually applying the 1.03 update but it says unsupported disc format when attempting to launch with MM, when applying and installing the update from PSN at 1.0, the PS3 sits at a black screen.

How are you guys updating this game?

game updates are not meant to applied on push disc game files, this means you are not allowed to touch the original files. These game updates are meant to be installed on PS3 via "Install Package Files" (in .pkg file) and once installed, you will see it added under "Game Data Utility"

So yeah, on the thing what you did is wrong and you potentially ruined the original files, thus will result that you need to delete that game and recopy the original files again, and install the game updates through Install Package or Just launch the game and wait the for the pop-up that an update is found and install that.

The game updates on here are not packages, where have you seen any game updates as packages?

Your supposed to download the eboot update and replace it over FTP or the multiman file browser....

Also, it doesnt make a damn bit of sense that I can download and install the official sony patches on multiman games for twisted metal, marvel vs capcom, and uncharted 3 and have them all work but dragons dogma does not.

There are 2 kinds of eboots:

    1. NPDRM EBOOT
    2. BD EBOOT

NPDRM EBOOT are used only for PSN games, Game Updates, PS1,PS2,PSP classics and PC engine.
BD EBOOT are use only on games that is issued on PS3 Blu-ray disc, no more no less.

And Dragon Dogma doesnt have a PSN game afaik. So that game is obviously a BD Game. And the thing you said applying game updates manually using the BD Game as a base is not normal, to prove it, why would you replace the BD Game files if BD Game disc is not even writable.

The thing you applied has NPDRM EBOOT and some other files like PARAM.SFO that is flagged as a game update (which is that is the reason why you getting a unsupported format)

you used the wrong kind of eboot

that eboot is for installed data from the game and not for the image of the game

when you do this the way you did it comes up unsupported data

replace the file you switched back with the original (have the original copy of the game back to original.... fix the eboot you overwrote in the wrong place)

then use this eboot patch (1.3) for your game data found in /game/titleid
