I would be grateful if someone tells me if it is possible to install the original Marcus R Brown's PlayStation 2 Serial Cable (0xd6.org: PS2 Serial Cable and forums.ps2dev.org :: View topic - Playstation 2 Serial Cable (EE)) on later models like mine (PS2 Slim SCPH-79001).

I know that it can be installed and works on older models which comes with an sepparated EE chip... But nobody discovered (or at least, published) yet how to do it the same on unified EE+GS and/or EE+GS+IOP later models (Look for "unified EE+GS chip" here: PlayStation 2 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia).

This cable could save tons of hours on homebrew development, by delivering the PS2 outputting status/debug messages on PC console terminal...

EDIT 2012.12.19: Now I'm trying this on SCPH-70012 (GH-032-22 board with EE sepparated from GS).

    Some news:
    - I have found STXD, GND and +3.3V.
    - I ain't totally sure I have found SRXD (http://psx-scene.com/forums/f257/nee...without-109439)... Maybe via digital multimeter approach I can solve this (http://wiki.openwrt.org/doc/hardware/port.serial).

    - I haven't found VCORE (1.7V) yet. The same method (multimeter) can help on this, anyway there is a chance this shouldn't be necessary anymore (in case I use MAX3232, like tesla http://tesla.bohater.net/ps2/why.html, or MAX232, like l_oliveira RS-232C Voltage converter).

    Pics from my SCPH-70012 v12 GH-032-22 board (side B)

GND (black) and +3.3V (red) points:

EE SIO pins - STXD pad (blue) and SRXD via (green - This last one I haven't sure yet):

Zoom on EE, focusing on serial port area:

    Side B Overview:

I'm waiting for an USB to RS232 Serial Port Adapter I've bought from DX (http://dx.com/p/usb-to-rs232-serial-...nt-green-24512).

BTW, Gillbert and l_oliveira are helping me to complete this mission, anyway feel free to contribute.
