As far as i know hdloader will only back up orginal ps2 games unless you have a mod chip installed.

I just went through this actually. Found my 40gb harddrive came with FFXI (waste of money ) and wanted to do the same. I just ended up getting a 3.5 ide enclosure so I could connect the harddrive directly to my computer and put the isos on there. I used an app called Winiip. Playing games at full speed now instead of the usb 1.1 speed (ewww)

    1. You can connect your HDD on your PC (IDE directly or with IDE2USB-adapter) and install games with WinHiip, very fast on copying.

    http://sksapps.com/hd/WinHIIP_V1.7.6.rar

    2. You can choose hdl_dump from link below, copy hdld_svr_xxx.elf (in folder "files") to MC on PS2 and start it first, then on PC the gui and install over Network (itīs slower 2~2,8MB/s)....

http://psx-scene.com/forums/f98/%5Ba...tml#post430639 ([APP] HDL Dump Helper GUI (for Linux & Windows))

EDIT: I forgot to say, if you choose the 2. option over network you need the IPCONFIG.DAT (on mc:/SYS-CONF/) used for network-IP on PS2....
