Help! Could this be a battery problem?
Hi... I left my PS2 for 2 months unused in a cabinet because i was so busy that time and got no time to play but when i tried using it yesterday, i experienced a problem. Everytime i turn it on from standby, after turning on the main switch at the back, it wont boot up until i press the reset button. It happens everytime from standby. But Then i observed that sometimes the clock just sets itself randomly like the year went to 2199 where 2099 is the year limit. After setting up the configuration screen, then i powered off the console to standby then turn it back on, it boots right away. But when i turn off the main switch at the back for some 1-3 minutes, the problem goes back again and sometimes the time resets itself after pressing the reset button to boot it up to the home screen.
Could this be a battery dying out?! My PS2 is not really always being used... I only play casually when i have time.. And its a SCPH 50006 still unmodded and untouched inside.
I watched an 1 hour show using SMS and tried powering it off for 5 minutes using the back panel switch (Main Switch)
and the problem no longer occured,,, Im going to try it again later this afternoon,,, Could it be that after watching a show the battery got some recharge enough to maintain the settings data on its internal static ram?
Help is really appreciated. thank you.
I dont have time to open it up so if the problem could really be the battery then i would feel at ease. I really love my ps2 so please i need some confirmation or anyone who had the same experience?!
Thank you very much PlayStation Community!
Going back here tomorrow to check back for responses... :D
