There's a big difference between the Xbox scene and PS3 scene. I'm not saying I agree with everything Relaxxx is saying, but I do get where he's coming from.

Some companies like Team Xecutor will sell you a product, but they produce something better quality than what you could make yourself, not something where you have no choice but to use what they've made.
In PS3 land, the above was also true until this TB garbage came around. Even today, there's plenty of freely available PS3 hacks out there that will get you going. But the big difference is if you want to run backups of nearly any game 3.60+, then you need to buy a dongle for no reason other than someone wants to make money off you. There is no free alternative, even if you're willing to put in the effort yourself.
I do get that people want to make a living and everything can't be free, but historically speaking, modding has been something you could take on as a fun hobby without spending much, if any, money. People get upset because the hobby aspect has been ruined. There's not much fun in using a locked-down dongle that gets you from point A to B without any learning in between.
As for the people willing to pay, I think they have a right to do so. Some people don't care about the hobby aspect and just want to play free games. That's their choice.
Now back to the OP's topic, if TB and Cobra weren't locked down with DRM, then what he's asking for would be a trivial matter. Since that's not the case, you're primarily at the mercy of the developer who so far hasn't released a unified firmware. You can swap between the two as has been mentioned, but there's risks involved with that.

Based on what I've read so far probably it won't be that simple, to just install the Cobra CFW over it, and everything will work...?
Yes, it should be as simple as a re-installation. If you want Cobra, install the Cobra FW. If you want TB, install the TB FW. You should not have any problems switching back and forth, and if you do... try it through recovery mode and you should be on your way
