    Hi all,

I recently purchased a PS3break v1.2 dongle. It came yesterday in the post and thankfully it is a genuine item.

My question is have I wasted my money buying it as my ps3 firmware is on 3.73???? If this is the case is there anything at all out there on the market which I could look to get to work with my machine????

I know this might have been asked before and if so I apologize, just need some kind advice to steer me in the right direction.

who buys those dongles anymore? they were useful back when we had no cfw. but now we have cfw for 3.55 so already that makes the dongles redundant. second, your only hope for 3.73 is if a new solution comes out, something everyone has been waiting for for the past year. so you actualy have wasted your money. just sit back, be patient, and hope a new cfw comes out. there is an exploit being rumoured about but that will not play backups. so sorry mate.

I myself have a PS3Break dongle, and it ONLY works on FW3.41 or less.

You're best bet it to google "PS3 downgrade" and try to get to FW3.55, where there is a custom FW you can install.

And yes, you've wasted your money on the dongle - Sorry!

If your console shipped with a firmware at or below 3.55 then you also have the option of downgrading your PS3 to 3.55 with a progskeet to e3 flasher.

    hi there

Could you please explain that statement a bit more, please?

i have an original PS3 so i assume it's firmware must be 1.0 or something that it SHIPPED WITH as you stated. I am currently on 4.0 (or which ever the latest version is). Are you telling gem there is a way to restore my PS3 to it's ORIGINAL firmware?????

I would be most interested in learning about THIS is this is the case!!!!

If you have a system from 2006 then it did ship with 1.0, so you can downgrade with a progskeet or e3 flasher.

Thanks for that bit of info. i will go have a look at progskeet now. I found your post most amazing in that for the last few months every single website I've been on has been "If you upgraded past 3.55 then it serves you right for being stuck." or "This has been asked to death. We are closing this thread without answering you" and all manner of other "we are better than you for being in the scene for longer" or "we are just plain tired of answering that question. THERE IS NOWAY TO DOWNGRADE FROM A FW PAST 3.55" and then today, your post... Quite the surprise.

So yeah, I'll have a look. Thanks.
