Showtime is a media player for use on HTPC media centers. It is primarily intended to be controlled via keypad input such as a IR or bluetooth remote control, keyboards, etc but works also very well with a pointer device.
The main features of Showtime for PS3 are the following:

Channel 9 plugin:
It supports different video formats like the below ones:
- .avi

For more information about supported video formats, see this website: Libav
It supports as well different audio formats that are supported too by libav:
- AAC (m4a)
- FLAC
- MP3
- OGG
- WAV
- WMA
Showtime supports too javascript plugins, it allows any Javascript programmer to create his/her own plugin. Currently there are the following plugins:
- Channel 9 (facanferff)
- GameTrailers (WIP - facanferff)
- Headweb (andoma)
- Revision3 (facanferff)

I've been having nothing but problems with movies. The audio on them while using Showtime has been down right awful! the video shows up flawlessly. But trying to HEAR a movie on it is impossible. And Showtime doesn't have any options at all...not that I know of. I can't edit the settings in it if it has any at all...if I could I wouldn't be having this problem. And I don't have a entertainment system for my ps3...so its only working through the hd tv speakers....maybe thats the issue? If anyone knows why the audio is so "low" on every movie I'd appreciate some help in this issue. I blast my tv audio all the way to 100 and it does nothing. Can barely hear any movie.
So still no 5.1 audio?? My receiver shows 5 channels but the output is 2 channels...When is the sound gonna be equal or even close to the native video player??
and is it possible to add MKV support to the main video player?? Maybe having PS3 media server running directly on the ps3 would be better since it supports 5.1 audio.
