So all of a sudden I can't watch movies in showtime. I start x movie and it plays for a couple minutes then the whole ps3 freezes up. Might be that the hard drive stops spinning (external) but it's driving me nuts.
Any thoughts

Do you keep your PS3 connected online (internet)?

Yes. After a little testing it apparently only happens during playback of one movie..
Yes, that might just be that movie. Might be corrupted or your hard drive may need a defrag.
The reason why I had asked earlier if you connect your PS3 to the internet, is that I don't keep mine connected. And apparently I had some issues with Showtime freezing up, because the metadata info was trying to make a connection where there isn't one. So to fix my issue, I had to go into the Showtime settings and turn off both >Metadata>themoviedb.org and last.fm connections. Once I did this, I don't have the freezing up issue with Showtime.

In my opinion it is not just a potential issue with the movie but a memory leak (same problem w/ one 1080p .mkv but others as well as program itself). I'm experiencing the same problem ever since I upgraded to a Rogero Firmware, don't have specs with me at this time but will try and add details on PS3 version later. The only temporary resolution I can find is to re-install firmware, currently using the latest 4.30 v.x's version of Rogero, previously I had to downgrade to 3.55 KMeaw than back up to a previous version of Rogero. I have an internal 750gig drive with .mkv's and AVI's that randomly freeze as well as the program run independently of Multiman and within it (seems much more stable through Multiman though). Also freezes entire system requiring reboot when I simply scroll through the list of movies in Showtime. I have utilized every version of Showtime compatible with Rogero and some not when on early firmwares, also ended up formatting twice in the troubleshooting process. I think there maybe a compatibility issue w/ Rogero CFW and Showtime. I will try and add addition information later, hopefully something of this may be helpful.
