Try setting your cache size to 16 sectors (And then 24-sectors if there is no problem), re-ripping the game and not using the ISO9660 mode.

About Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy - Without the FORCE SYNC mode, ISO9660 mode is basically useless at running that game.
That compatibility mode should not be required at all.

If it's required, that means that there is something wrong with the ISO9660 mode that is causing PS2ESDL to either read data very slowly, or to have some other hidden problem.

I have the game I'll try to rip and do some tests today.

Edit: From what I've gathered the game does need the Force Sync mode or it will crash after the "Sony Computer Entertainment America Presents" screen with v.818 using ISO9660 mode

It's not needed either, because every PS2 has USB-Slots, contrary to FireWire, LAN and HDD.

And I wanted to give more room for expansion (Without the need for the user to upgrade so often).
Ah,... So it also is somewhat 'reserved' for future-additions.

Ratchet Deadlocked SCUS - 97465 crashes in single player mode after the loading screen after the first cutscene with a black screen

    "know what i mean"

and now that i remember i think ratchet and clank: going commando SCUS 97268 does something very similar but you actually get to play a bit of the game first. then it gets stuck after the very similar to deadlockeds "spaceship flyby" loading screen.

I'll keep those 2 games in mind for bug hunting after the v0.820 release. Thanks.
EDIT: Which version of PS2ESDL are you using?

@All: There is a bug that was introduced in PS2ESDL v0.818, and might cause USBExtreme-format games to not run properly (Or even at all....).
Plus I have found out that due to my usual carelessness, I have accidentally not fixed the missing mode in sceCdSync(). D:
    I should have added a mode 17 (0x11) instead of mode 11 lol. :X

I don't know the true extent of the consequences of not adding mode 17, but I have only come across one game in my collection that performed very badly because of the missing mode.

The graphics corruption issue in the GUI has been fixed, with the exception of the 480P mode (Due to a lack of VRAM).

Is there plan for adding dvd drive support via usb? It will be very helpful for people without working laser to use backups. Personally, I would like to see this feature only in SMS.

Maybe not. Although I own a drive, I don't see why it would be useful to PS2ESDL.
The USB 1.1 interface is very slow, and the slower-than-HDD speeds of most optical drives will make performance even worse (Probably even worse than that of a USB flash disk).

But I can see why it would be good for SMS though.

    PS2ESDL v0.820 has been released!

Although it's mainly a UI and usability upgrade over v0.810, it does sport a 10%-20% increase in performance along with some bugfixes.

Brief list of changes since v0.810:
    1. Skinning support.
    2. Improved skinning support over the skinning support in v0.816.
    3. Performance has improved by approximately 10%
    4. Plugin support.
    5. iLink/Firewire/IEEE1394 support (As plugin)
    6. ISO9660 disc image (.ISO file) support
    7. Exit function (Hold R1+SELECT to exit to the OSDSYS)
    8. Some bugs were fixed.
    9. sceCdSync() now supports mode 17 again (A handful of games need this).
    10. New patch file released to support Rugby League 2 and Iron Man.
    11. Graphics corruption should no longer be visible when using the PAL video mode.
    12. Game title sorting option added.
    13. PS2ESDL game format v1.22 support.

There has also been improved skinning support (And yes, the skin designer may now customize the positioning and size of some elements of the UI).
I'll try to build a comprehensive skinning guide. Meanwhile, I need some sleep first. :X

    Additional notes:
PS2ESDL v0.820 supports only the PS2ESDL v1.22 game format! If you are using an older format (E.g. for PS2ESDL v0.810 and older), please use the upgrader utility.
