    That's is, unfortunately... expected.
The shortcut to return back to the OSDSYS only applied to PS2ESDL's GUI, since there is no working IGR system implemented.

Your loader is really awesome! I had a hardtime trying to make it work on OPL0,8 rev 584 but had no luck... It always froze on me at the second FMV and it cant save no matter what compatibility modes i turn on. or combined...

Just additional info, I had to activate forced sync and unhook system calls to be able to play Jak and Daxter... I thought just unhook system calls as said on the compatibility list....,.

The game will not load past the SCEA splash screen if forced sync is not activated and it wont save without activating unhook system calls..
OH! and changing the default buffer size makes the saving fail. ehehehe...
    Interesting.
Since PS2ESDL v0.74x, Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy worked properly with only the "Unhook Syscalls" mode enabled.

The force sync mode was never required....
Maybe I broke something by accident. I'll check again.

Thanks for your feedback on the ISO disc image loading system.
So far I have not received any complaints about it, so I suppose that it is indeed bug-free.

I can say the VMC and IGR won't be implemented by PS2ESDL v0.820, since a lot of work might be involved.

But NTFS support might be included in v0.820 after all.
Someone was kind enough to let me know of another port of NTFS-3G that seemed easy enough to be ported over to the PS2.

Just for your information, Jak & Daxter works on OPL with mode 6 and mode 7 activated. Saving (to physical memory card, didn't test VMC) does work as well

That sounds amazing! Wouldn't that also mean no more fragmentation problems?

    Best regards

How did you launch PS2ESDL? If you use uLaunchELF, please use the latest version as some of the older versions are unable to launch PS2ESDL properly (Mainly those versions that are way older than v4.40).

Also, I do suspect that the bug in PS2-packer is responsible for some of the BSODs are bootup - I did get some BSODs during testing on my consoles, but it occurred randomly.

That only occurred when PS2ESDL was compressed with PS2-packer.

Try to ensure that your disk is error-free by running a disk check on it.
Ensure that it has a FAT/FAT32 filesystem.

SP193 is the author of PS2ESDL, so I guess it's valid to call him expert

It's odd if PS2ESDL had issues handling that malformed path though.
I thought that the code in CDVDMAN that fixes malformed filenames was working well.
    Oh well. :X

I had once managed to see (via the driver's printf() messages) how the Sony CDVDMAN.irx module determines whether the specified file was on the disc or not, and it was interesting.

It seems like it does a letter by letter comparison for every folder/file it meets in the path, and will stop comparing file names once 3 characters from the dot separator (If it existed) were counted (E.g. the "img" file extension).

In other words, it seems like Sony had followed the ISO9660 standard and had written a rather forgiving driver for their fellow licensed programmers....

    EDIT:

    Harvest Moon A Wonderful Life - SLUS-21171 works fine on PS2ESDL v0.816.

I tested it on my SCPH-77006 console, with no compatibility modes enabled and with the default cache size (2 sector).

amigos, what's your console's model number, does it have a modchip installed, what kind of USB device did you use and what is the catalog ID (E.g. SLUS-21171/SLUS_211.71) of your game?
    30004r EUR
mod chip-mars or messiah(2 put in reset for run psx games)
    laser death
    slus 21171
    with usbextreme/usbutil 2.1/usbinsane dont work
    i wanna buy usb-hdd 250 gb for ps2 games
It will work with my PS2?

    Welcome to PSX-scene.

Glad to know that it worked well on your setup too.

The stuttering cannot be totally eliminated though.
The USB is still slower than the CD/DVD drive of the PS2, although the difference might not be a lot at times.

You need to hold the R1 button before pressing the SELECT button (And keep the R1 button held down while you do that).
It's actually a dumb limitation that I had forget to mention. :/

Well, the difference in performance is usually hard to notice.
But depending on the game, sometimes the improvement in performance can be rather noticeable.

Well, your English is already pretty good. No need to worry.

    -------
@all: SOCOM 3 doesn't work. It's definitely not caused by the malformed IOPRP image path since the IOP was obviously successfully reset (The PAD was initialized, and graphics was shown).

The game will show a BSOD after the SOCOM 3 startup screen.

Other than Metal gear Solid 2: SOL and Alien Syndrom, this is probably the only new game I had found that truly doesn't work.

The Getaway (PAL) works well too.
    in my console dont work

    @SP193:
About SOCOM 3, if I remember well it's doing cdrom's devctl calls while the logo is shown (can't remember which ones tought).

    @SP193

    Interesting.
Since PS2ESDL v0.74x, Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy worked properly with only the "Unhook Syscalls" mode enabled.

Maybe I broke something by accident. I'll check again.
    You dont "broke something" ! ! !

Cause I had the same problem as "Ceedlorenzo". I cant play Jak and Daxter with OPL or USBAdvance, i have tried all settings.
But with PS2ESDL (v0.816) only with "Unhook Syscalls" it works.

The problem is the format of the game.
Cause when i see the game works with PS2ESDL (i had the game in USBUtil-format on USB), i put the game in .iso on USB and it dont works.
So i reuppt the game with USBUtil-format and it works.

    The bug is the format.....

I read today the post from "Ceedlorenzo" and i tested it again....

    The result is.....

With USBUtil, USBExtreme, PS2DCDMP - formats, the game works with "Unhook Syscalls" only.

With .iso the game only works with "Unhook Syscalls" + "Force Sync".

    and at last.....

    Ceedlorenzo:
One last thing, i've been playing using your ISO support... really really nice!!
Here u can see why he requires the "force sync" mode.
