owh... i think is the new ver..
sorry my mistake, no wonder dont detect usb drive

Actually, it's my fault.
I forgot to mention that PS2ESDL-I was for only IEEE1394 disks.
Anyway, I've updated the description.
@all: It's confirmed that PS2ESDL does not work on BC PS3 consoles.
I don't know what is wrong yet, but the problem is not caused by Swapmagic 3.6.
And there's a bug that causes PS2ESDL to freeze at the GUI while loading some games, specifically games installed in the USBExtreme format and have a title of exactly 32 characters long.

I figured i'd give it a try on a theme for PS2ESDL, but it isnt comming out quite as expected....a bit too dark because of PS2ESDL's "overlay" of the default GUI screen.
Maybe it looks better on someone else's screen.![]()

Ok, i adjusted the brightness/contrast a little to help compensate for the dark overlay, but its not a whole lot better on my TV.
Had to make a new post because the filenames are the same in the attachments.![]()

That looks cool... but yea, it's a little too dark.
So what do you think needs to be done?
Maybe I should add allow the user to control the alpha level of the background... (Your background looks a little too "thin" on the default black background)

If its possible to allow users to change colors and edit the alpha channel for "elements" of the GUI, people could make some really nice Themes with little effort. I'll make a "mockup" example later and show you what i mean.
Elements:
Each of the 4 colored areas in the example could be made to change colors for text, move around the GUI or even prevent it from displaying so users can make a more "personal" appearance in their themes.
Thats just an 'oversized' image by my capture card, it always gives an additional black border around the actual screenshot. I cant get it to capture only the screen, eh, its a cheap capture card and its what i get for buying cheap.![]()

Heres a mockup of the current layout, i'll do another with 'elements' moved around a bit tommorrow.
Im not sure how much you want to do to the GUI's customizability, but i'll make a few and you decide how much you can do without wasting too much time on it.![]()

Nice!
The 2nd mockup reminded me of something I had wanted to do but scrapped due to me not being a really great GUI programmer...
I had wanted to re-write PS2ESDL's GUI to use an image (PNG/BMP format), instead of using that hard-coded table.
So yea, I think that I know what to do.
I'll add skinning support.
BTW: Where did you get those Playstation (Dualshock) gamepad icons from?
I wanted to use similar icons on PS2ESDL's GUI design, but was worried about copyright issues.

As an alternative display layout, i had this idea (yea i know its kinda HDL and USB Extreme looking) since the game names only go half the screens width. That would be cool to see it with full skinning support, as i love making skins!
Im sure your aware i made a lot for OPL, but OPL has gotten a bit "too" complicated. Its real nice to be able to customize a GUI to the Max, but sometimes a simplier design is just as good and it would be great to do that type again.
I had made them myself, from way back in my HDLoader skinning days, i've made a lot of variations too, but the "native" look seems best for default skins.
Im not worried about any Copyrights on images, its only an illustration of usage of controller buttons so i cant see anyone having an issue over copyrights. I wouldnt worry about it, we have been using Sony images since HDLoader first got skinned and i havent yet seen a complaint about it. Besides, since i made them, they arent exactly the same as sony made them.
Let me know if you want them or i can even make a custom set just for PS2ESDL.
Edit:
Found a little time to add a customized version of the alternate layout.
