So after much debate I decided to pick up a new ps3 and join this site. To my dismay though it came with version ofw 3.65. I would love to jailbreak it but wonder if its even possible. I guess if needed I will just take her back to ol walmart and pick up an earlier model from gamestop. I don't really care about swapping between 3.55 and 3.72, but rather, wonder if I can even run homebrew apps such as multiman and a cfw on the system at all.... I went ahead and pre-ordered the e3 flasher but find information a little scarce. I would love to here any input on what you guys think.

I've been part of the Wii modding community for sometime... but fine the wii to be mundane at best anymore. Anyways, I'm here to read, learn, and do. Let me know if there is hope for my ps3!

    Good to be here.

    Justin

Welcome Justin, I am TitanTX, well just keep in mind that you cannot downgrade past your stock firmware, which 3.65, if you downgrade to anything below that you will end up with a brick. The e3 flasher is a great device which can dual boot and downgrade your system. Also your best option would be to getting a new system altogether. And get one that is on 3.55. You could look at the Buy Sell and trade section over here, where there are loads of options for yout to choose from. Read the rules and enjoy your stay, glad you chose to be a part of PSX-Scene.

yes that e3 flasher will downgrade you i believe and i think theyve even now made a solderless model for novice, wait for yours and google a tutorial and u should have a fully hacked ps3 in no time. While your waiting u can even update and play on psn cause i believe they successfully tested it on 3.72 as well.

*edit* ah good thing for titan posting at the same time, i was unaware about downgrading past stock so u seem to be SOL.

Ouch, thats mildy depressing, thanks so much for the answers. I will hold out in some hopes for an update or compatibility with the later systems for the next few weeks. I'm in no hurry. Walmart can wait to take my ps3 back. I'll prolly beat infamous 2 before I return it as well :-) .

From a noob to another noob :P You can check my new member post also. "New (sad) ps3 owner :P" or something like that is it called. But not to bring your hopes down but the possibilty is small for an update on the jailbreak front. Thats what I heard. Last update was for 3.55 and that is around 9-10 months ago. I went back to my shop and delivered my ps3 back and going to buy a used one at some guy tonight. Cant wait to jailbreak it!

So I actually went out and picked up a 3.55 ps3 today. I couldn't help the desire to back up games on the HD today it seems. However, the first game I have tried to back up with mutliman (Spiderman Shattered Diminsions) refreshes to the xmb and I'm unable to load it from the games folder or the disc. I guess I will have to find some other games to test it out. I decided to use Kmeaw 3.55 CFW. I tried using Gaia as well but to no avail. Same issue. Is there a trick I'm missing. It plays fine from the disc. I found a few instances of this online but no fixes.

It seems to be working on the compatibility thread I found here... which I can't post a link to due to the forum rules....

Not sure whats up. Could any help be offered?

Oh yea, if I try it with a disk or discless it comes up error 80010017. Thanks in advance.

2nd edit. I just noticed that in place of hermes on the compatibility site it says PL3. I'm not sure what that is...

and a 3rd edit. I uninstalled the game, then reinstalled it via GAIA and now it seems to work fine. Disc or Discless, doesn't matter. Cool I guess. Strange that multiman didn't copy it correctly, or that the ps3 messed up copying. Bleh, go me.
