I don't know if you can put on the 3.55 CFW directly (onto an older verison like 3.15) -- the guides I used always said to put on the official 3.55 then put on the 3.55 CFW. It may not be necessary, but I've done three PS3s this way (OFW 3.55 then CFW 3.55) and it works... You do not have to go into recovery mode, just simply do OFW then CFW immediately. I know BahumatLord is experienced on things like this, but, I wanted to throw this out there just in case :)
