Well, "Hello there!" world...
I've been occasionally browsing some of this site over the last couple of years as a FatPS2 + NetAdapter + 80GByte owner running a hand-crafted 2.4.17 BlackRhino Linux on part of the disk and some HDLoader/HDAdvance saved games on t' rest; finally decided I ought to stand up and be counted.
A while ago I'd messed around and tweaked an ancient(?) copy of the ps2fdisk code so that it could understand the larger 2GB chunks that my original HDAdvance seems to use and correctly relabel the partitions that uLaunchElf creates so that linux understood them (have to be called "__linux.##" where ## is 01 to 63 ...?) - but wiped out all the saved games I had already put on the disk. I was wondering what others have made in attempts to create Ext3 Filesystems in APA partitions - especially in the chicken and egg situation that one tends to start in...
I'm a "mature" gamer and 'C' pseudo-hacker / wannabe code munger, though in the last year or so I've been sucked into an on-line MUD  but for a change decided to fire the PS2 up and toying with the idea of seeing if I can get the TinTin++ MUD client to compile/run on it :chinscrat just for the bragging rights. At present just trying to get my PCs to talk nicely to the PS2, not helped by the fact that in a past upgrading attempt on the later had updated by hand the Perl that the package handlers apt-get and dselect use (so they STOPPED working) and I did not have samba installed. Some of that has gotten fixed tonight but I'm running into caffine overdose levels so I'm gonna go and lie down in a darkened room as soon as the ps2dev toolchain finishes compiling in the other screen.
Live long and do reasonably well...
