Noob needs help with HD swap and Multiman
Noob needs help with HD swap and Multiman –
First let me apologize if the answers to these questions are already posted. To be honest, I am an absolute novice at this and couldn't understand most of the shorthand in the threads that I read.
Anyway, here is my scenario if anyone is willing to offer some advice. Thanks in advance.
I have a slim PS3 with a failing hard drive (so I was told). I had multiman installed on my PS3 while I was living in Asia. I am not much of a gamer, but not having to buy and return game rentals is pretty cool. I have an extremely busy schedule and only play from time to time, so renting a game for a few days is truly a waste. Anyway....
So, I purchased a new hard drive and am pretty sure I can follow the instructions that I read and install it. So, my questions are these...if I use the newest PS3 download, can I still use multiman? I haven't been able to find that answer (it doesn't seem like I could). If not, can I download a different firmware? Is there anyway to keep my current firmware? If I run the backup utility, would I still need to re-install multiman?
Sorry, like I said. I am new at this. Thanks again.
I am currently on Version 4.40 firmware
I think I have Rogero 4.40 v 1.02 (I think that is what popped up when it loaded).
First, downgrade your firmware to the official 3.55 firmware.
You can use the official backup utility to transfer everything off your failing hard drive. Everything will be backed up except tophies.
Once you done backing up your data you can install a new hard drive. At that point you will have to re-install the official 3.55 firmware.
After that, run the back up utility again to get your data back and your PS3 will be just like it was before except you'll have a new hard drive and no trophy data.
yeah what he said, sorry!
hi! I envy you for having a jailbroken ps3! :s goodluck with your downgrading!
