hello guys I'm new here, just a newbie that want to know all about how to install HDL and homebrew... and how to run old PlayStation games PS1 to new console.. i just missed all the old games hehehe.. thanks

First things first, welcome!
Ok, in order to be able to install homebrew applications on your console is a PS3 with firmware 3.55 (or older), the alternative is getting a flasher to downgrade your console if it is above OFW (Original Firmware) 3.56. But I would take it to someone like a game repair shop if you need to have it flashed.
If you do have a PS3 with OFW 3.55 the next thing you would want to do is install a Custom Firmware or CFW. Depending on preference and what you will be using it for there are a multitude available, but for simplicity I would recommend Kmeaw CFW 3.55. You will be able to run Ripped versions of your games and also just about any piece of homebrew software.
Next I would download either multiMan or Rogero for a game Manager. I prefer multiMan myself simply because it incorporates everything from an Game Manager, FTP server, Emulators and a Multimedia player (plus many more awesome features like PS1 ISO support).
Once you get a CFW installed and familiarize yourself with the programs out there you will have a great time playing not only old PS1 games but most every console system from atari to super nintendo, even MAME is supported.
There are a lot of n00b friendly guides in the forums, so browse through there and feel free to ask questions. Though I do recommend trying to figure out somethings out for yourself, that's the best way to learning your way around a modded PS3 system.

can i ask how to create a freemcboot... i have a playstation2 with a matrix chip and hdloader installed to a harddrive, but the lens is not working, dead lens...
i search the threads and forum but all the tutorials i found, using a Disc HDLoader to run launch elf in hdd, is there any way how to make that freemcboot with a dead lens, without using a disc..
any link to the tutorials..?
the first thing to install a emulator to a hdd is to have a bootable memory card right?
im planning to install old games using emulator...
