Hello PSx-Scene

My username is Johnzyno (as you can see), I'm 16 years old and I live in Belgium .
I'm more of a pc gamer than a console player but I recently dusted off my PStwo and searched around to get more potential out of it. So i came to the idea to get it softmodded. It would be nice to have the extra features and this way i won't have the problem of younger irresponsible brothers who like to massacre my game discs (I'm probably not the only one ).
As i mentioned i want to softmod my PsTwo but i'm probably going to let someone from this forum do it for me. (Thank you!) When i have enough posts already ofcourse ^^.
I do this because it's much easier than modding it yourself and I don't want to go trough the hassle of taping and opening and all that stuff. I've been reading a couple of threads and there still are a couple off questions I'd like to ask if you guys don't mind.

1)If you let someone put fmcb on your memory card, the only thing you have to do is put the card in your playstation and the homescreen will be changed to that of pmcb?
2)Is it also required to mod your PsTwo (taping the switching, screwing,..) if you reieved a modded MC?
3) I have read that it's possible to hook up a usb hard drive to your PS2 Phat trough the network adapter, is it possible to just hook a usb drive to your psTwo?
