cant install downloaded game rom a usb drive

hi everybody .....i just got my ps3 and im dying to learn all the ins and outs .....any volantiers

before anything check which firmware you are running, i believe its under "system settings" then go to "about ps3" if its above 3.55 then you are screwed for now if its 3.55 or lower follow any guide you find here
PS: we don't discus pirating here.
