DVD region free CFW for PS3
DVD region free CFW for PS3 –

Does anyone know if anybody is working on this so there are no region restrictions for games and films. I see endless updates for FTP's and download managers but never anything about making genuine games and films playing in a different region PS3. I know Cobra USB is planning to enable PS2 ISO backups but that's something i'm not bothered about. I just want to pay and play games that never got a release in my country.

The PS3 ships region free, so you can play any country's games on any system.

Some of you people either can't read or don't have a bloody clue.

From my understanding, there is currently no hack/homebrew of the sort to make your PS3 region free. Other than PS3 games, the PS3 is region locked.

You have to use Original Action Replay or Game Shark Disc (for PS2) on your backward compatible PS3.
After that you can play your different region PS2 games & Dvd Movies.

There is some patches floating around that give new options to lv2 patcher that allow a temporary change.

Can you confirm that because the only method i'm aware of is swap magic which requires you to strip down your PS3 or use an external hard drive through the slow USB1 to play backups from there.

PS2 games I am not sure about but what I posted should work for dvds.

My main issue is with PS2 games because I have a UK and US PS3 and a PC to watch DVD's so it's just a case of convenience with them. I have a UK PS2 but I have a US backwards compatible PS3 so I can play the games that were never released over here (Street Fighter III was never release in Europe). There are tones of shooters and fighters that were released in Japan that were never released anywhere else that I want to get hold of but I don't want to pay out for a another system nor do I want to set up a Japanese model or a modded PS2 just to play them, let alone my own PS2.
I guess my best choice is to wait for Cobra USB PS2 ISO but i'm more after CFW without the use of a dongle which is why i'm asking if anyone has heard if any CFW to remove the region lock is in development.
