Lots of peaople are developing or porting same good apps for PS3 by using jailbreak or something else.

Isn't it possible make a media player.
So that we can play any king of video type like MKV.
Maybe in the future someone develop a custom firmware or package and add this support in it

Which type of support would you like to add custom firmwares?

    - Media Player
    - EXT3, NTFS etc file systems support

I'm sure some one was trying the port XBMC a while back. I remeber reading and watch some stuff on it. Haven't heard anything for a while now, but that would make life sweet. No more streaming 1080p, No more stops and pausing. Just drop it on you HDD, plug in, and watch in high quality! Yeah Baby!

The best solution for watching .mkv files so far is http://ps3mediaserver.blogspot.com/

Can be downloaded from here http://code.google.com/p/ps3mediaserver/downloads/list

Tried both Windows and OSX versions and both worked great for me.

Supporting external subtitles and 1080p .mkv files. However the PC and the console should be connected via Lan cable/router because of the slow transfer rate via wireless.

A media player that can play .mkv files from an NTFS formatted HDD is being developed as we speak!
