anybody know if code mem areas are located in nearly the same location for all games, more often used than others for that special code, i.e. health codes are always at the start of the elf, items are in the middle, ammo and money at the end of the elf file..... are there any regular patterns??? or is this just random and the game-programmers coding choice?
    any thoughts?

The position of functions and data is dependant on the linker and linker script at build time. The order in which objects are linked is dependent entirely on the linker used, and the way it collects it's symbols... so in effect the mem areas are entirely random.
