How To Transfer Games FTP
How To Transfer Games FTP –
01-25-2011,12:10 PM
Hey everyone, I am currently downloadi... err, "backing up" my game to my PC.
Since this is my first game that I am "backing up" on PC, I was wondering how I can transfer the game through FTP to my PS3 120GB Slim, 3.55 Kmeaw CFW. I have everything installed and ready to go i have lw2 patch, roger, and rogue warrior backup (thats what its called). So, basically I first tested it to see if my backup works, so I ran lw2 (to be safe), then I opened up my BM and copied my original South Africa World Cup blue ray, it succesfully copied to my PS3, took the disc out popped in MW2 and I was able to run South Africa. I have not tried without a disk in yet, not sure if that works anyway yet. So basically what I'm asking is if someone can post a tutorial, or possibly explain to me step by step how to transfer over my first downloaded game from my PC through FTP to my PS3 Harddrive.
Thanks!!

Hello Vexinho,
Sorry if my English isn't good, but that would be because I'm Dutch.
First, you need to install an FTP server app on your PS3. I would recommend Blackbox FTP 1.2. Here's the link to a signed version: http://www.multiupload.com/MZS169965Q
Then you need to install an FTP client on your PC. I would recommend Filezilla. You can find it on google. When you open Filezilla, go to file
--> site management (or something like that). Create a new site. IP: when you open Blackbox on your PS3, you should see an IP, type that one in Filezilla. Leave "Port" blank, and let FTP on FTP. Log-in type: normal. User: FTPD12345 Password: just type something here.
Now, IMPORTANT, go to transfer settings and limit the number of simultaneous connections to "1". First, my FTP just kept refusing, but after this change, it worked.
You should have your Blackbox opened, when you're connecting. Then you should be able to connect to your PS3 via FTP. As games folder, it depends on what you've chosen. I have "dev_hdd0/GAMEZ" but it could also be something totally different. And if you want to transfer a game to there just drag the folder, like you would in Windows Explorer. It must be something like this (using my example): dev_hdd0/GAMEZ/BLESXXXXX/PS3_GAME .
I wish you good luck !

Hey Derk,
Thank you very much for the information! Really helps me out since I already have Blackbox on my PS3 (forgot to mention), when I get home I will download Filezilla, since my first game is almost done downloading, I was not sure whether what files come in the downloaded ZIP file. Im assuming just an ISO that you put into the folder above. Thanks alot!!

You do not need to supply a username or anything to FTP to the PS3, just supply the ip address. I successfully have 2 simultaneous uploads at a time. On the PS3 i just use Gaia, it has an ftp client. It is stable, as the transfer of gt5 (13GB) proves.

Xul, I think you're right. It could be just me. The only FTP server on the PS3 which works for me is Blackbox. I have tried GAIA, Rogero and Multiman, but in Filezilla, I always got the message "ECONNREFUSED - Connection refused by server". But it works fine with Blackbox. I'm using a PS3 fat 80GB, if that makes a difference.

I just installed Filezilla on my Mac, so I should prolly have no trouble transfering it through direct ethernet cable. I have the ps3 120gb slim, I watched my friend transfer his games through the same method so hopefully it works.
