It sounds like the game data is larger than 4gb, and was split into multiple chunks when being transfered to your external drive (where I'm assuming you backed it up to based on the error message). I don't own GT5 so I don't know the specifics of the game's file sizes, but in order to play it you would need to have it copied to the internal hard drive, since games with files over 4gb won't run from the external.

I had the same problem with GT5, i backed it up to my Internal HDD and it was fine
Games that split (File over 4gb) must be backed up to the Internal HDD, as they cant be read from the external..

this is an easy fix with an external drive. i had the same issue with GT5 and UFC 2010 after it backed up it was grayed out. then i plugged my HD into my computer and deleted the underscore that the managers add before the title. ie. "_U8U9234" TO JUST "U8U9234" i was amazed as this was able to work for both!

It won't work. You cannot defeat the limits of FAT32 by deleting an underscore. If the game does run it will crash before you complete it, as some of the data will be missing.
