Calling All Devs –

currently i use wiimc on the wii to connect to an ftp server where i have movies stored and this allows me to stream my movies to my wii. i would like a homebrew app that does the same or similar thing for the ps3. is there such an app or does anyone no if someone is working on one?
i want to be able to have a friend dl the app on there ps3 and be able to stream my movies to it via this app from my ftp server. would be great if there were a web app or page that can be hit to do this so that it will work on any ps3 whether hacked or not.
thx for any assistance.

I don't think there's anything like that currently out. However, you can run PS3 Media Server on the pc with the movies and such and stream them. I'm not certain if it can be set up to stream to outside of a home network however.

Yea tehmurpeh is right but the only problem i find with it is that it lags so bad, you'll be watching the movie streaming from your pc and then suddenly the picture freezes and the sound catches up or some crap like that. Pretty sure its not the connection too.
The only other option right now is to transfer the movie over an ftp server or connect up a fat32 formatted usb hard drive.

thx fo the input, but yea i can't wait till the ps3 devs come out with some of this stuff. a web version would be ideal since it would be legal to run on any ps3 to access your movies

I connect to my pc via my ps3 without any extra software and can watch movies that are on my pc over a wifi connection no problems at all.
