I compiled a tutorial on how to backup/restore.delete trophies. I hope this would be helpful.

***Note*** You must restore your account & game saves on your other PS3 using the Backup Utility. ***Note***

How to identify trophy folder of a game:

Go to your game folder and navigate to "[GAMEID]\PS3GAME\TROPDIR\NPWXXXXXX." (Game location) Where XXXXXX is the trophy folder in your PS3 at /dev_hdd0/home/0000001/trophy/XXXXXX (PS3 trophy folder location)

**Note that 0000001 is the user folder. If you have multiple user it might be different

    Backup:

    1. Use Multiman(newer version) or ftp server(Blackbox or openftp) to access the folders on your PS3
    2. Go to /dev_hdd0/home/0000001/
**Note that 0000001 is the user folder. If you have multiple user it might be different
    3. Copy the “trophy” folder to external USB (multiman) or to your PC(ftp)

    Restore:

    1. Turn on your OTHER PS3. Use ftp server or Multiman to copy the trophy data
    2. Go to /dev_hdd0/home/[User ID]/trophy . Paste the trophy folder and overwrite it.
    3. Turn off the ps3. Turn it back on and got to Recovery Mode.
Note: If you do the normal boot you won’t see the trophies
    4. Select Rebuild Database. Ps3 will reboot after the rebuild
You are done with the restore and you should see all the trophies on your new PS3

    Delete:
    1. Go to \\devhdd0\home\0000001\
    2. Identify the trophy folder by following the guide above How to identify trophy folder of a game:
    3. Delete the folder that corresponds to the trophy folder that you want to get rid off.
    4. When you go to trophies in the XMB you will see trophies not found with unknown icon.
    5. Load the game that you deleted the trophies and it would throw an error and the game would erase the trophies.
You won’t see the trophies on the XMB

If you have any question let me know. I will try to answer it.

I was going to try backing up my trophies using RazorX method. The same one he suggested for the copy protected saves. I got so far last night but was interrupted. I have all the trophies on my flash drive already. I will report back your method and also the method of RazorX tomorrow.

Sorry Still1, was interrupted last night and did not have a chance to check your method. (Which by the way is important to me for my PS3's road to Linux freedom) Will report back tomorrow.

anyone manage to test this method i would assume it would delete from your offline trophies but as soon as you connect and sync with psn they would just be put back on via the server

Hey Peter Howard. Not sure about PSN or online. My PS3 has never been online at all. I will report back this method for backing up the trophies for offline use as promised.

(Someone with PSN experience please advise)

This method does not fix the trophies issue.

I was happy when I rebuilt the database and got back my trophies.

What is NOT mentioned is that when you start a game with your old trophies an error would occur.
And the game wont start, it says your trophy is not registered etc.
and it will quit the game.

Moment you step back into your trophies folder, the system would delete ALL of my backed up trophies.

IF I done something not right, I like to know.

I restored my PS3, delete/ replace trophy folder in the home/ dir where is supposed to be.
    Boot in recovery,
    select rebuilt database.

System restarts, view trophies they are there.

Play a game, the system says your trophy is unregistered blah blah. will not carry on, game exited.

Once you start browsing the trophies section a task bar will appear and delete all.

So whats the deal? There is no fix in actually playing or restoring your trophy since once you play a game it will delete all your trophies?
    Did I missed a step?

i was thinking that some people said the data transfer function is supposed to work for saves a lot better, is it possible that the data backup could be done to usb, then a transfer to the other system using the crossover cable, then restore the trophies? im about to try it now. ill let everyone know. assuming that this 40gb comes out of the oven alive and ready to get my stuff off it.

i would keep the data backup just in case the system dies while doing the transfer (may take a lotta hours)

    edit:
guess i'll never know: the oven didnt fix it. i thought the ylod on this was odd: i think it happened when i was removing the IHS because after i put it back i got the ylod and it was only overheating before.

so i thought maybe the tension of poppin the ihs off was what caused my ylod.. but it turns out i probably scraped the rsx chip.

anyways, cant try it now. already got the 500gb in my new ps3, and its formatting

same problem as drifand. All trophy data is beind deleted when I start the game. Backup Utility doesn't restore trophies, so what does this have to do with anything? Maybe you need the same account when you restore your trophies? Gonna try that, hopefully I can switch back my hdd, then backup, then switch then restore, then go **** myself... then maybe magically it'll work..

F***ing Sony making it so hard just to restore trophies... :/

Edit: Switched back hdd, did some trophy update thing... then no trophies...
