Hard drive swap –
06-12-2011,12:01 PM
Not sure if this is the forum for it but here goes...
I have a PlayStation 3 120GB Slim CECH-2001A with OFW 3.65.
I have a brand new 500GB SATAII hard disk I want to install into my PS3.
I have already downloaded the OFW 3.65 from Sony and I have it on a FAT32 USB stick.
Is there any way to get my games I bought on the PS Store (Burnout Paradise, Wipeout HD, Tomb Raider Underworld, etc..) onto the new hard disk without re-downloading it from the PSN.

use the backup utility, it will backup everything apart from trophies, even your psn titles....then restore it onto the new HDD

But first connect to psn & sync your trophies (by using "/\" Triangle button)
Then backup your data to Usb media, good luck.

Ok, I synced my trophies and did a backup...
It took almost 2 1/2 hours and it was about 78Gb.
After I installed the new drive, it worked great but when I tried to restore the backup it gives the error 800283F0
I tried to restore a few times but the same happens, sometimes at 30% and 99%.
I made the backup on an external 320GB hard disk and I am able to copy the backup files on my PC, so I don't think it is corrupted.
Google d the error and came up with other ppl. with the same problem...but no solution.
Some say it is when the controller goes to sleep also to delete the game data before backup.
So as I am unable to restore my games, I put back the original drive into the PS3 and it works fine...
Hoping to get some feedback here on this....

use the back-up application, it will back-up everything apart from awards, even your psn headings....then recover it onto the new HDD
