With ps3 ofw 3.61 in place, what would be the better choice in cfw for 3.41 or 3.55

hi everyone, im not gonna lie. im a noob/newb but ive been reading like hell in all honesty. its similar to the other post actually.....

i just bought an 80gb fat CHECHL01, which is believe is the last of the fat ("safe") models aside from the uncharted bundled 160 gb ps3, so i can either install cfw 3.41 or 3.55...

to start, with 3.61 out and new games requiring 3.60+ fw AND with rebug's release, please assist me in jailbreaking in the "best" way.

should i:
A) upgrade to ofw 3.41 and install rebug 3.41.2
b) upgrade to ofw 3.55 and install rebug 3.55.1
c) upgrade to ofw 3.41 and install CFW X (recommendations?)
d) upgrade to ofw 3.55 and install CFW X (recommendations?)

ive read that rebug is the best cfw out, and that 3.41.2 and 3.55.1 are virtually the same (no lv2(?) loading, no dongle, same debug avaialbity options), but are there better CFW's than rebug, because ive seen hermes is the most popular with 3.41 and kmeaw is most popular with 3.55, at least until rebug appeared.

now im not a dev obviously, i guess im what i think is called an end user. im really just using the ps3 to play backups, save games, movies, etc.... im not a hacker and i dont plan on messing with stuff like keys, servers, or anything else that might brick a system or screw up the psn.

so with all that in mind, what would you do with your 80gb CHECHL01 as far as jailbreaking at the current moment? please keep in mind, i just want it to play movies and games/backups, including newer games like brink, homefront, crysis 2, etc....(and no online because of 3.61 isnt an issue, i dont mind playin offline)

PS does rebug 3.41.2 operate and do everything the same way as 3.55.1

Some people (including me) have been having a few problems with backups with rebug 3.55 fw, so i would recommend you to go to 3.55 kmeaw cfw, as everyone is using it and there are very few problems on that cfw. SInce you do not care for online stick with cfw, yes, new games may come out and you may need to wait a bit, but that is a small price to pay for the immense amount of opportunities using jailbroken ps3.

You can play MKV files with the showtime homebrew, which a ps3 normally cannot. YOu can change the blu ray region of your ps3 to play all blu ray movies. Game backups, PSN content, emulators and much MUCH more.

brink,crysis 2, and homefront work at the moment for 3.55 cfw. The only games that do not work now are portal 2 and la noire that are 3.60/61 games and we just need to wait a bit for someone to come out with a fix.

Now its upto you, update to 3.61 and buy games,movies and music and be limited. Or get cfw and open up your ps3's inner beast!

see from what ive read, rebug is considered the best, but many have suggested personally to me kmeaw as well, is it cuz im a noob or because as you said, the backups work better on kmeaw?

also...is pkg/package installation and updates as easy in kmeaw as they are in rebug? cuz that was one thing that someone mentioned to me, that to update rebug all it takes is a pkg install, very simple

i forgot to mention, is it easy to switch from one CFW to another...such as if i wanna try kmeaw and rebug, is it just a ps3pup.dat update to switch, or do you have to like uninstall the first cfw to install the other cfw?

pkg installation? just put it on a flash drive/HDD, plug it into the ps3 and install it from install package files folder, SIMPLE AS THAT. actually it is more complex on rebug, because they made a bunch of folders to separate a kind of pkg from another, like homebrew,psn content etc. But that only causes confusing and consumes time.

Also yes backups do work better on kmeaw because i was on rebug 3 days back and MAN vs WILD and SHIFT 2 refused to work for me, i switched back to kmeaw and now they work. For simplicity always go for kmeaw.

Finally switching from one cfw to another is easy, only thing you have to do is drop back to ofw 3.55 before you go to a 3.55 cfw.

yes, i would recommend kmeaw and so would many others. And pkg installation comes as a mandatory with all cfw. If you have successfully installed the cfw, then when the ps3 boots you will see 2 extra folders under the GAMES tab in XMB. They are named:
1.APPS/GAMES folder- used to play games once you loaded from backup manager, this is discless gaming, which is not recommended as games may not work. best bet is to keep a ps3 game inside always and load a backup and turn it on from the disc icon on XMB, if you dont have a disc..then you need to play from this folder.
2.Install package files folder- Install pkg files from here.

i just heard about "privacy patch" (ps3mfw?) and "stealth rebug"

what do they do? do they hide your identity or your console id?

if so, how/where do i get it or download it?

or should i just put in like F_ckPSN or some homebrew app that hides you/stealths you?
