OFW 3.70 coming soon? –
05-29-2011,03:39 PM
according to this OFW 3.70 is right around the corner (if you notice the * after key features) so who knows what kind of challenges that will bring to the table. it probably would still use the same keys since they still seem to be doing their job, but it might also mean that the next round of games this fall might not be as easy to exploit as the most recent 3.60/3.61 games have been.

I'm not sure if I would agree with the scene being dead but this sure does impact it pretty good. And that wireless headset does look pretty awesome. Too bad it doesn't work on movies :/

I don't know why people are bothered about this because it's not going to have any difference with the current situation now with jailbreaking. It's 3.55 or lower until someone does and releases publicly a new crack. As far as I see it the scene is not dead unless your just doing it to pirate newer PS3 games. All I want is better Linux support plus new and better coded emulators which is doable with 3.55, so the scene will always be alive if stuff like this is being done.

well i happened to luck out and get an extra PS3 dirt cheap but to be fair not everybody has more than one ps3, and still wants to play new games. in fact its probably easier to believe that there is more people who want CFW and the ability to play new games (pirated or not) than there are people who want a better running linux, and i'm sure those numbers will stretch further apart after October (that's mainly because there is a ton of easier ways to have linux, but there isn't a whole lot of ways to play future PS3 exclusives) playing new games, and having CFW does not equal piracy plain and simple. unfortunately, if it was really that simple it would have to be repeated so often.
now its not my place to tell you what you should do with your PS3 so if you want it solely to run linux, homebrew, last years ps3 titles, and not to play any future ps3 games that's your business. Personally, i think that's a waste of a PS3, but please don't lump everybody who wants future advancements in CFW together. that's just plain ignorant.

If people want to hack their PS3 then they should buy a second one and hack one as a hobby. Sony is going to make it as difficult as possible to protect their income and will continue to have their latest firmwares on their future disc releases. It's something that I've had to accept and others will have to if they want their consoles doing stuff that Sony doesn't want them doing. It's not ignorant, it's the only option and we've got with no guarantee of this changing in the future.
