So i've finally saved up enough money for a psp.. (used but meh) *hopefully its the right firmware* So im now looking in to ps3 jailbreaking.

anyways, my questions is, is there really any difference in the many different kind of jailbreaking techniques?

I read theres those ps3-keys or dongle, that you can buy, then theres using your iphone or calculator, or just simply using your own usb drive.

So is there really a difference and i should just pick the simplest looking way to do this?

*also, those ps3 keys, do they have any use after you jailbreak your ps3?*

    Basically you have two options.

    1. You can use a dongle to jailbreak your PS3 (This isn't permanent, you would have to jailbreak it every time it starts up. It only takes about 10 seconds though)

    2. You can use a custom firmware to jailbreak your console (This would be permanent, only installed once.)

You would need a PS3 on or below 3.55 for both these options. If you need help, there are tutorials on flashing your PS3 with custom firmware. If you decide to go with a dongle, you can't really go wrong with what you pick because they all basically do the same thing(with the exception of a few, Cobra for example has a few extra features. Research and decide what's best for you.) Although, if you are on 3.55, most dongles will not work. In fact, I believe the Cobra dongle is the only one that works on 3.55.

You should have looked on here to see if anyone is selling a PS3 with 3.55 or lower. Any chance of getting your money back if you returned it?

I think you will be waiting a LONG time for 3.60 Jailbreak/hack. No one wants to release anything. Mathieluh or whatever his name is pisses me off.

"Oh yeah I can do this and that and the other with my PS3 on 3.60... but you cant because im not going to release it!"

That kind of thing really annoys me. Share the wealth!! Share what you know and how to do things!

I hear ya, I find a few things funny about CFW now... Besides Mathieluh, if he does know what he knows.. More power to him, no one can be mad because he can do whatever he can do on 3.60+ (if he can).

I did appreciate all the work the devs put into the ps3 jailbreaking scene even though I went back to official firmware.. I weighed my options heavily.. Yeah PSN might be ****** BUT mostly all the ps3 games are made for online useage (and I mean that by entertainment). It gets highly boring playing offline after a while. Anyway my main usage for CFW was SNES ported by squarepusher I believe (being that it had nice HD compatibility). Of course, I loved the updates by dean with his multiman.

Do understand I'm aware of the legal actions from getting and releasing keys, but there is gonna come a time where more and more people are gonna go official because of encrypted games etc.. Thus the people who do have keys or are able to run 3.60 CFW (which I believe is out and will get to that). Won't release it for said reasons above.. Which will lead to just homebrews and games that are released prior to 3.60 (besides L.A. Noire - which is a decent game, I loved the detective style to it, besides that it got boring quick (reminded me too much of GTA). Killzone which has 3.60 key update and some other game I can't remember atm.)

Now I'm not sure If it's 3.60(1) CFW or If it's just a bypass that got someone on PSN through 'np'.. But I was in a lobby where a player actually typed in something along the lines of - Your all welcome for the patch enjoy.. I left right after I saw it, believing it was one of those BS hack/challenge lobbies or whatever you wanna call them.. I doubt you can do something like that on official, correct ?

I might be going in circles at this point and I apologize, But it's something to think about. I'm also not writing all of this so you guys will think I'm making one of those lame excuses for someone to release 3.60(1) CFW, If someone does more power to em, and of course I will join up again, I will admit that.. If not won't affect me.. It feels good to be back online and not just playing by myself and my GF is playing again. She kept telling me don't update you`ll regret it.. But I don't and she got right on and all smiles to play online again lol..

Now my last thought, Is the hackers going after Sony.. Don't get me wrong I definitely don't agree on how they approached geohot, graf, and whoever else got caught up in it, behind the scenes or whatever.. They (Sony) should have been smart about it and worked together to make the ps3 and XMB a wonderous thing like way back when, when updates actually had something players enjoyed.

I see threads like another attack planned on sony, and everyone is like f sony this and f sony that.. At the same time, when someone new comes to the scene wanting to try out CFW (regardless if they updated or bought their ps3 with 3.60+ firmware). For the most part some people are nice about it telling them they are **** out of luck.. I see a higher percentage (flame, troll whatever you wanna call it) them. What I'm getting at is, people are protective over 3.55 CFW if they have it, at the same time no one wants to release a updated CFW yet, they want sony to be attacked ?

Just some things on my mind and food for thought, overall I still support and will always choose CFW due to the creativity and hard work from the devs. It's just not as fun playing ps3 games offline.
