N64, Dreamcast, Gamecube, and Wii emulators will all get to the point of running almost perfectly on the PS3. PS1 will most likely as well. PS2 I seriously doubt. But I can't wait for the N64 emulator, and I really want to see the Dolphin emulator ported.
I have a dualshock controller working flawlessly on my pc, which is connected to my 50" tv. Ace; Match point, lol. But seriously, there's some good drivers for hooking up your ps3 controller to your computer. Even works on windows 7 64bit. I think its called motionjoy, but I just googled it and found the info. It's fully wireless if you have bluetooth too.

Whatever, I don't know what I expected when I posted this thread but I'm kind of over it. You can hope for whatever kind of emulation you want, You are going to be waiting a long time though.
I would love to play mario super sunshine in ps3, and download all the games I really wanted in the days and never actually got.
i demand a ps2 emulator because thats what i bought a ps3 for and silly me the Backwards compatible ps3's are about 400$ while the "New" and IMPROVED slims are under 350 or less
i didnt buy a ps3 for these gay ass games sony calls epic or exclusive i got it to relive Dot hack and maybe play Kingdom hearts for the first time but NOOO sony dont want that they want me to go out of my American lazy ass way and hook up one of my many ps2's and play it like that
i own the dam games for sure there awesome and diserve to be purchased but why cant i play them on my system that only does everything? idk maybe the ps2 was just to ultimate to be emulated on the system that only does everything but play ps2 games and Music during a game not to mention the epic cross game chatting but who am i to dream...just a boy with a system on floor and controller in hand wanting to play my favorite tittles...again
ohh and Majoras Mask is awesome enough on the wii but on the ps3's hardware would be godly! and i can model my own stuff and throw it in there so thats a plus!
(I read no other posts i just ranted a bit but i will when my net gets mack on)
Awww... the sad emo troll got scared away with everyone being hopeful. What does it matter to you if people are looking forward to an emulator (regardless of how well it performs)? You should be thankful that these developers are taking their time to program these emulators for your benefit. So what if its not lightening speed, high definition right off the bat? Jeeze they might as well not even bother then. We should all just listen to Srimok's advice and tell all the developers to not even bother. Go crawl under a bridge, dipshit.
Biggest face palm in the world..."I want a PS2 emulator on the PS3"
....some of you get it, but NEWFLASH...why are you emulating a console on a console that originally has backwards compatibility? Everyone keeps saying it's a "hardware" issue, but how so? When did the PS2 become more powerful than the PS3?
It's more software than hardware...if PS1 games can be played on all versions of the PS3, the supported files for PS2 can be download via PS2 System data, it's just piecing it together.
As for the PSP...WTH are you talking about? Same as the N64? Really?? Have you read the specs of both? Have you noticed the XMB for the PSP and PS3 are very similar if not the exact same? Have you noticed the file system is very similar?
Example of how similar the PSP and PS3 are.
Minus the load time on the PSP, they've ported Disgaea 1 & 2, Persona 3 and a few other games onto the PSP....all were on the PS2 and you still think a PS2 emulator is needed?
As for the main post...the demand for different system emulation is so that those who either gave up, sold, broke or whatever their old systems go move onto the "next gen" of that era, can go back and play games they enjoyed. The concept is that simple. Nothing more, nothing less.
Not really sure what point you are trying to make exactly, but i'll bite - the short answer im assuming for most would be no.. but bear in mind that the "scene" hasn't really existed for very long & even the emulators that work well at this stage Snes/FBA etc, are all early builds and along with all the other w.i.p ones will no doubt improve exponentially over time as the devs become more familiar with the PS3's eccentricities.

Can't you lads just allow others to have opinions? Personally I agree with the original poster, I can't see the thrill of playing old(ish) games. But then again when I was a kid there were no consoles/pcs, but I did have an Atari 800 when I was a bit older, and I certainly don't hanker after those games. But if others do then fine. But you have to respect other people opinions, just because the thread starter does not agree with you he's not an idiot because of his this.
Its ridiculous to think a ps3 can run ps2 games common its not like i can just put a ps2 game in my ps3 and play it.
(i have old model)
