Hi, first time poster. If someone could point to an existing link or provide info, that would be great - my searches were fruitless.

Simply put, I'd like to revert from GH355 to OFW355. which way is the recommended way to do this? Recovery Menu > restore or simply system update > restore? Or are they both essentially the same?

Oh, follow up question, probably belongs in the theory section. I'm going to get a 2nd ps3 for jailbrk/single-player/non network playing. A lot of the games I buy on the PSN are multiplayer (1941, pacman, planet mini golf, etc) but I never play with others. However, to re-download these games to my new ps3, I would have to use me existing account to get them at which point both of my ps3s would share the same PSN ID. My question is, do you think when/if the ban-hammer comes down, would it by my machine ID, or PSN ID? I'd like to keep the same ID on both machines to access the playstation store, re-download things I've purchased or authorize/deauthorize the ps3 for movies and games - however, I'd like one of my PS3s to be JB. Actually, I think I'm answering my own question... It just seems easier to create a new PSN ID and just have 1 machine be "legit".

    thanks!

I just went through the reverting back to OFW process a minute ago, from recovery, and it worked like a charm once I got a decent USB stick, except I had problems using the USB port on the right. I put the stick on the port on the left and it picked up the data immediately.

As for the ban question, it's being speculated that if/when Sony starts shelling these out it will be per console, but nobody knows for sure until it happens. Your idea of creating a new PSN ID for the legit machine seems okay until you buy another game and want to transfer it to your JB machine, at which point that ID will be exposed, Unless, of course, you find an alternate means of getting said game to your JB machine. Hopefully for 2x PS3 owners the bans won't be by ID or IP address.

I think the safe way is that you buy two PS3. One jailbrak, one go to psn. If you want to jailbreak your ps3, you have the own risk.
