Alright, I'm wondering what is the best CFW plus backup manger to use. I recently found my old 40gig ps3, it was on 2.xx and is now updated to 3.55 OFW. I plan on backing up all my games to a portable hard drive and just leaving the ps3 at my camp.

I have read around and it has been suggested to other people to use (kmeaw cfw), I downloaded a copy of that cfw off a random website. It would install but after it was done it would try to do some type of update and I would get a message on the ps3 saying, this FW is already installed, then the ps3 would reset. I then check the system info and I'm still on OFW 3.55. So my question is, why I'm getting this error/ plus a trusted download link I can use to re-download said CFW.

After reading around I think its best to download the latest (multiMAN) backup manger, if I should use something different please let me know.

Now for the last thing, The reason I never used this ps3 was because the blue ray stopped working, will this cause me any problems trying to play backups? Cause I read some games need a blue ray disc in the drive.

Thanks for your time, and please don't make a reply to this saying, use the search button or google. Cause I have tried, plus I feel a lot safer getting advice form members on a site like this.

Never stick your ***** in a hot bagel...wait, that wasn't the kind of advice you were looking for.

Yea, some games do require a BD in the drive, but I believe there is a BM that can by pass the use for it (someone said multiman can do it as well, but never seen it done personally). I'll have to dig around to find that topic in reference to it. Since you're using multiman, look for the BDemu file cause it will be necessary.
I'm neither black nor white....so don't be disappointed when you can't find me in a box of Crayola's!

I ended up installing the CFW via Recovery Mode, and that worked fine. I also installed MultiMan then the DBemu and was able to lunch a backup's with a non working bluray, with no problem's.

Thanks for your help, and have a great day.
