Been trying to research this as much as possible while keeping up with the current influx of updates over the last few days.

I've been out of the PS3 hacking scene since I originally jailbroke my 3.41 fat PS3 a few months around. I originally owned the HTC HD2 phone which I had Android running on it. I installed PSGroove or whatnot and followed the formal procedure to jailbreak it and then starting backing up all my games to my 500Gb internal HD.

Now my issue is since it's been months, and I've sold the phone I'm wondering is there still a way for me to play my backups? I recall I used to have to keep the jailbreaking device plugged in via USB while powering it on to access backup manager. But now without this device I can no longer access these backups.

Has a workaround since then been developed? Or am I in a position when I have to buy another device or a 3rd party device to continue to be able to access backup manager?

    If so any cheaper recommendations?

    thanks!!

Update your PS3 to 3.55 then use Geohot's Jailbreak. Its free and even though some people find it hard to use its actually very easy to make your own pkg files with the provided tools. Just read some into it before doing anything.

Thanks for the info, and I was already considering doing this BUT my issue still remains that I have no way of playing backups without my original or any jailbreaking device.

What do you mean? you can use Geohot's custom firmware with any usb device and if you have a bunch of backups downloaded all you have to do is download the package files which are about 20 mb

Ok well that's probably where I'm out of the loop. Months ago I recall the only method of accessing backup manager and playing your backups was by having to keep the usb device with PSGroove on it plugged in (such as an Android device, TI calculator, iPhone etc) while booting the PS3 every time.

What are the package files you are referring to? And does each game require their own files?
