PSP 1000 Stuck in Recovery. Not sure if it's hardware issue?
Hey PSX-Scene! Firstly, thanks for all of the information that I've gathered since joining. Though I've yet to have posted until now. I'm hoping one of the knowledgeable members can help me out here.
I picked up a PSP-1001 from a friend and then followed the steps and installed Pro 6.20 since it came with really old firmware installed and I hadn't updated it upon purchase, knowing things could be easier with my position. It worked, and I've been playing some ISOs on my system.
But the other night I was playing Monster Hunter, and suddenly my character was stuck, continually attacking as if the Triangle button were held down. Unable to make him stop, I shut down the PSP. Ever since, the system is now automatically booting into Recovery Mode. But here is the strange thing, I can't move the cursor/selector off of "Reset VSH". No matter how many times I press UP on the D-Pad, it just snaps back to VSH. I'm unable to press X and choose any option at all.
So my question posed to you is this - does it sound like I have some malfunctioning keys, or is this perhaps a "bricked" PSP? I appreciate all help and suggestions! I am leaning toward key malfunction, because I had a similar issue with MGS, when selecting my load-out the game is acting as if the R1 button is being held down. I'm wondering if perhaps the R1 key is stuck, thus loading Recovery at boot-up, and rendering all efforts to change Recovery option selector from VHS useless.
Thanks.
