Right i have 2 ps3's one is jailbroken and the other has a broken blue ray drive

I have been trying to install CFW onto that box with the broken Blue Ray
But every single time i try i get a error and then my machine is stuck in a update loop.

I have even had is RSOD me which i can fix everytime

as i said it goes to 69% and the Bam error
I'm tried installing both from recovery mode and through the xmb still no luck,

I have read some where if the blue ray drive is knackered the update will fail

So if anyone has come up against this please inform me as i got a ps3 sittin there

If the blu-ray drive laser is bad, it will still update. Check the MD5 hash of the update file on your USB drive and make sure it matches.

If the blu-ray drive controller board is bad, you will need to replace it before updating the firmware, since the firmware does a "all systems ok" check before it finishes installing. At least until someone comes out with a CFW that bypasses the system check, which I haven't seen yet. The other thing you could try is updating from service mode with a dongle, I haven't seen anyone post success or failure with that method, though I don't have high hopes for it.

Well, a 3.55 bluray bypass would be cool. Until its tested and working I wouldn't try it. It's nice to see it can apparently be done and someone is working on it. Won't be long now, especially at the speed this scene is moving.
