CFW upgrading advice ?
CFW upgrading advice ? –
I'm on CFW Waninkoko V1 (yes the one that caused all the bricks) on a CECH-2004B Slim 250 GB . Backups work very well for me but I still have some freezes. So I thought it was time to upgrade the CFW. What firmware do you guys recommend Waninkoko V2 or Kmeaw. I want to know who has the biggest compability and no freezing. Thank you !
I also have kmeaw and all my back ups work great NO FREEZES at all i cant wait to try linux i am just waiting for a keyboard and i heard that you need linux on your computer which i dont have but im not sure just got to wait til a noob version comes out.
Its great people are recommending the same firmware I would, but no one has mentioned why. If your a technical person like I am, I'll give you the reason that Kmeaw's (and Naima's) cfw is the best. The lv2 patch, the actual part of it that circumvents the drm, is added into memory afterwards, with payloads built into apps. In the waninkoko firmware, its hardcoded of the nand. That has 2 effects; first, it means that on wans cfw if a different payload comes out that is more compatible with games, you will have to re-flash your ps3 with a new firmware that contains the updates to the payload. With kmeaw's or naima's you would simply update the program using the new method. The other effect of having a hardcoded payload is simply danger; with a memory based payload, if something were to go wrong your ps3 would shut down. If something goes wrong with a hardcoded payload on the nand, you get a new $300 doorstop, as we've seen with wan's v1.
