Canīt install any OFW/CFW - Corrupted data (8002F997)
Canīt install any OFW/CFW - Corrupted data (8002F997) –
07-01-2012,11:41 PM
My case is:
1. I have indeed downgraded to 3.41, but iīve installed some other cfws since then and it always worked alright.
2. Somewhere around jan/2011 iīve traded my 3.41 cfw for 3.55 waninkoko v2. Iīve tried a few others after that, like rebug and stuff, but it did not work on my Fat PS3. Rebug actually bricked my system and I had to put on koko v2 through recovery mode to get it to work again. That was the last time I tried anything different, been using koko v2 ever since.
3. Now, almost 20 months later, iīve bought a true blue dongle and tried to install TB Firmware, but I get error 8002F997 (Corrupted Data), when its around 70% of installing. From the recovery menu it doesnīt even start, just says corrupted data.
4. Tried installing 3.41 OFW, 3.55 OFW, just wonīt work. The only one I could install is geohot 3.55, but it doesnīt make a difference for me, the system stays all the same (maybe because I use koko v2 over geohot, they seemed compatible or something at the time).
5. I canīt try installing any other CFW even for testing, because iīm afraid they might brick my PS3, as I donīt know any CFW that can run for sure on Fat PS3 and not brickin for sure.
Note: Waninkoko v2 is like a masked 3.41 firmware. I donīt know for sure how it works, but my system is usucally compatible with 3.41 homebrew, instead of 3.55/signed. My system informations shows 3.55 tho, even if I install geohot, it doesnīt say 3.55-jb, but only 3.55.
Note 2: I saw this post as well, but no solution: http://psx-scene.com/forums/f205/ps3...w-help-100022/ (PS3 OFW/CFW Help)
Iīm really pissed off, just bought a true blue dongle, after 20 months waiting for a cfw that runs 3.60+.
For what iīve seen (google) some ppl that have downgraded to 3.41 canīt install any other firmwares and get corrupted data, but I did install many others after downgrading.
Iīve seen a case where someone says his HDD was read-only and he solved the issue by allowing write, but i canīt figure how I do this. Other than that, all cases iīve seen didnīt find a solution, but didnīt see any new posts, theyīre all pretty old.
It seems my problem was installing rebug and coming back to koko v2. But iīve no idea how to fix it now.
Help, please. Buying ps3, dongles and stuff donīt come cheap for me and I really would expect to use my system to its best, as I live in a lame country, instead of USA (thatīs why the bad english).
Any ideas?

tell me if this installs. do it from recovery menu
rogero v3.1
if that indeed installs successfully, then install this
toggle qa.pkg
then run toggle qa app from the xmb. the ps3 will beep and the XMB will reboot
then highlight network connections on the xmb (dont go into network connections, just highlight it)
then with network connections highlighted, press L1, L2, L3, R1, R2, and down on the d-pad all at the same time.
three new options will pop up under network connections. (if it doesnt try the button combination again a few times, if that dont work, then run the app again ect ect.)
go into "debug settings" and find "system update debug".
turn "system update debug" ON
once you turned "system update debug" ON, turn the ps3 off, and boot into recovery.
try to install your true blue CFW then and tell me if it works.
as a side note... here is what the error code means:
0x8002f997 Error occurred while checking update data.

Just one other thing, if nothing works try downloading the CFW on a different computer with a different internet connection like at work or a friends computer, I'm not sure if anyone knows why yet but some ISP's and/or computer configuration's cause an error.

I get corrupted data as well...
Gonna try downloading with a different computer at a different pen drive and iīll report back. Thanks.
I think maybe the file is on cache at the internet server, and it could be somehow corrupted.

Managed to install the CFW, turns out my pen drive was a shit, tried with a different one and it worked.
Altough now iīm stuck at updating my true blue firmware, iīve tried with different versions.
I install the update pkg, enter the program, insert my dongle when asked, and it hangs at 11% on 2.7.
On version 2.51 it hangs at 31%.
On version 2.2 it just wonīt recognize the dongle.
Gonna try changing my fw to 3.55 OFW and then to TB, since I just installed TB 3.55 over waninkoko v2.
Any ideas would be welcome. Iīll report as soon as I try this out.

Didnīt work... it wonīt update. The system also wonīt start with the dongle in it. Maybe I bought a clone, and it doesnīt even work, or maybe its this Fat crap ps3.

where did you get the dongle?

I was thinking about that, but I couldnīt find out how to open the dongle. I bought it on Paraguay, for I live in Brazil. I had the option to buy original or clones at the store, I opted for the original for $70 (clones were around $50).
Iīve tested it on 3 different systems already, mine and on 2 friends of mine... they all hangs at the updater around 23% (v2.7) or 31% (v.2.51), the others versions donīt recognize the dongle.
By turning the system on with the dongle conected, it doesnīt starts, I just get black screen.
If someone could tell me how to take it apart, Iīll post pictures of my dongle. I have noted the usb may be compromised, it has a strange crack inside. Like this -> I I I I Cr. ("I" being the yellow contact thing and Cr = crack). But as iīve seen any usbs have only 4 contacts.
Edit: I sent an email to the store reporting the issue, but I find it difficult for them to respond. Thatīs how it is in Paraguay, if it doesnīt work, you donīt have the disponibility to go there and get it back, because either you canīt (itīs far and consumes a weekend travel) or they wonīt support. But the places I go there donīt usually mislead you to buy cloned stuff... but idk.
Edit2: I think mine is one of those chinese, it seems like the inner case is glued.
