Hay all
.I have been a follower of the scene since the start but my fat ps3 suffered ylod and with work and family I never got around to fixing it until now,its cooling askwe speak.I cant remember what loaders and cfw I have installed but im sure they are out dated now.So my question is what cfw ,loaders or any other homebrew would you recommend ?
Thanks

Best cfw i would recommend is Kmeaw 3.55, go there and you'll never need to look back. Some may prefer rebug 3.55 but i have had problems running games on rebug which i did not on kmeaw.
So i'd say stick with 3.55 kmeaw and as for homebrew:-
1.)best backup manager is Multiman 2.00.04
2.)Then SHOWTIME is another awesome homebrew which a media player and lets you play all kinds of files without any cinivia permission sh*t, which happens if you play unlicensed movies with the default ps3 player.
3.)Emulators of all kinds, Mednafen, FBAnext, SNES etc.
Thats pretty much it, also remember to download a pkg file called BDEMU2 for multiman, install multiman and then install BDEMU2, without it you wont be able to load and play any games using multiman cos BDEMU2 is the payload. Google for BDEMU2

If I was you I would stick to 3.41 and install hermes cfw with hermes backup manager. It got a nice feature that lets you run games with files over 4GB from external HDD, it caches the file in the internal HDD without having to copy the whole game to internal. Thats what I use (3.41 hermes cfw) and it run anything so far...

Hermes 3.41*
There is no such thing as Hermes 3.55.
Oh and another thing about hermes cfw is that all the games that require to change the eboot.bin because they are made for higher cfw than 3.41. With Hermes cfw and backup manager you just need to rename the modified eboot.bin to the titleid of the game itself like for exemple: BCUS98155.bin. Then you put that in the backup manager's folder via FTP. You don't need to replace it directly in the game's directory itself anymore, that way you don't break its compatibility with 3.55 cfws.

With the new Multiman 2.00.04, that feature is available on 3.55 cfws also. I played the entire game of LA NOIRE from my fat32 gb hdd, using split files.

Let me rephrase that for you Perspex.
Best backup manager is the newest version of Multiman.
I have also been having some fun with PS3 Multi Tools.
Good Windows app to help keep things up to date.
I would much rather go to my grave not needing my gun, than go there wishing I had it.
