upgrading my ps3 hdd, wat will happen to all my data?

I recently did an upgrade, cause the 40gb disk ps came with was too small for game backups.
Anyway after the backup I had all my home-brew apps (backup managers ftp etc), the firmware was of course not touched as you already guessed. I had 2 backups of games on my 40gb and those where transferred as well.
Anyway if you think that something might go wrong you can run the backup and then see how much space it uses. Size should be a good indication if you have many games

ROFL...
Trophy sync might not work until 3.56 cfw comes out.
Your stored games will not be backup up. If you use comgenies awesome file manager, you can copy your "GAMES" folder to an external hard drive and then copy them back over after the upgrade.
Delete all game data before the backup. It will significantly reduce the time needed, and needs to be done after installing cfw most of the time anyways. It's also faster to re-install the game data then it is to back it up and restore it.
Restore back to OFW 3.55 before upgrading the hard drive. Complete the hard drive upgrade, using OFW, then switch back to kmeaw's cfw after the new hard drive is up and running. I've read on forums where people didn't do this step and got more games black-screening than they ever did before. It's such an easy step there's no point in cutting corners.
Homebrew will need to be downloading and installed again. It technically should back up when you run the untility, but I didn't trust it when I upgraded my hard drive. I deleted all my homebrew and then re-installed it after the upgrade was done.

so wait...i was gonna get a 500gb HDD on friday...u mean to tell me i cant carry my trophies over? WTF! i got alot of trophies since i been on CFW....is there anyway to get around this? I havent been on PSN at all not using any DNS tricks or anything else i didnt really want to risk it period. But if i have to i will cuz i am NOT losing all of these trophies (trophy whore)

LOL. I hate the trophies. I liked it better when there weren't any. Everyone tries to gain cred because of the trophies/gamerscore(360) they have. It means squat. I almost never finish a game I start, and even when I do finish a game I never platinum it. I have almost no ps3 trophies, but I go 50/5 KD everytime I go my friends house for COD:BO on PS3 (I normally play it on 360). I still can't believe people pay for accounts with high gamerscore, lmao.
Back on subject... trophies do not carry over when you do a backup. The only way is to sync them with the server, which requires you to go online and potentially flag your system.

yeah you either love them or hate them. I only have one platinum and it's for Madden 11...im not like super I NEED TO PLATINUM EVERY GAME AND DO EVERYTHING I POSSIBLY CAN....idk its jus kinda nice to see progress rewarded....i think people do go EXTREMELY overboard with it though...and it would be nice if they trophies would equate to something besides just points...maybe like credit to PSN store or microsoft points or ya know just make them more appealing since they really are worthless in a sense...
they have really opened my eyes though...im the type of person who starts the game on the hardest difficulty available...i have found out most people are not like that at all lol...seems like alot of people just like to cruise through on easy and i really dont understand that..where is the challenge? what is fun about killing EVERYTHING in one hit and never being on the edge of death with low ammo and no save point in sight? Dead Space 2 has me on my toes from the jump i am almost always low on health and ammo and i am a GREAT shot lol...the weakest necros can kill u in about 2 hits from full health...thats fun to me...CHALLENGE...if u wanna fly thru something just watch a movie
but...to each is own...i'll enjoy my challenge and they can enjoy...watching the game play itself and having the AI stand there and not put up a fight
what ever happened to games that kicked your ass like Bayou Billy and Ghosts n Goblins...classics man Ninja Gaiden bout the only thing that still smacks you even on easy mode
EDIT: LONG LIVE DEMON'S SOULS!!! GIVE ME ANOTHER PLEASE ATLUS!!!!

I hear ya. First thing I do is set the difficulty all the way up. I was playing COD:BO on verteran, beat GOW3 on the hardest, all Halos on legendary, and right now I'm on Fallout New Vegas on hardcore mode; it's still too easy and that's after they made it harder by weakening most of the weapons I use after the 1.2 patch. I had a 100% critical rate with ridiculous damage (all snipers had a x5 critical chance rate on 'em, and I have a base of about 22% critical chance rate, making it over 100% with the multiplyer) on it before the patch, and it seems just as easy after they dropped the critical chance multiplyer to 1x and reduced the gun damage by about 40%. Fallout 3 was also too easy. At least with Halo 3 on legendary I died 100 times, lol. I played through Fallout 3 on the hardest difficulty level and I think I only died 2ce. GOD3 on the hardest I died less than 5 times.
You want a damn hard game that's a real challenge, get Ninja Gaiden Sigma. I beat that one on the hardest difficulty level; it was A HUGE PAIN!!! I musta died 500 times trying to beat that game after unlocking that difficulty level. I've had people on xbox live see that completion and try to give me there accounts so I can beat it for them, get the gamerscore for it, and then send them back their accounts, ROFL.
I tried Demon Souls out and hated it. I only gave it about 15 minutes of my time before I came to the conclusion that I didn't like it, though. Maybe I should give it another try.

What made you not like demon's souls? It's a sweet ass game...creating your character (like looks wise) is bad and graphics arent the GREATEST but it is quite a fun game...my favorite thing is how you can leave messages or read ones people left about things just around the corner...and cmon i mean theres a boss that summons OTHER PEOPLE to fight you....lol i thought that was genius...i wonder how many people are still playing it

I didn't try it online. Just offline. Now, Oblivion was the bomb. That game I played on xbox 360 and pc. The pc version was sweet because there were custom mods. I had 1 that made the graphics alot better, 1 that showed my weapon enchantments (i.e. if I put fire on a sword the sword would appear on fire), and 1 that GREATLY increased the difficulty level. To the point where random encounters were lethal to even the highest level characters. AWESOME game. Bethesda is the same creator behind Morrowind and the Fallout series. I love all their games.
