I'm looking to update my copy of Fallout New Vegas, but so far all I've been getting are errors. Any feedback would be appreciated.
Using:
PS3 160GB Slim
Kmeaw CFW 3.55
Multiman 1.13

Questions for you to answer...
What's the error or error message your seeing?
Are you using direct boot to disc, diskless, or disc in (exiting to xmb before running the game)?
Have you tried updating the game by downloading the pkg file to your computer then uploading it onto your ps3 with a usb drive?
You can try booting to recovery mode and selecting the option to rebuild the database. That might work. Also, you could try deleting the game data and reinstalling it. Theres also a permissions fix availble in multiman, rogero, and seperate as a pkg download for kmeaw's cfw, you could try all 3 and see if it works.
If none of this works, it could be that the game isn't currently updatable when using a boot manager, there are a couple other games like this too. On a side note, at least you can still get that one book that requires you either have an unpatched game or the DLC add on to get. Lol.
I have been using Rogero so it is hard for to talk about Multiman. But I have Kmeaw and my updates work great. One thing I did notice is that some games do not work on external, so if you have FO-NV on an external I would move it to internal and it should update fine. You will also need to delete all game data first. Not the game save the data.
That's true too. Some games are just finicky and you have to try different configurations. If its your only game messing up, delete the game data, reinstall it, fix the permissions, make sure its running, then try to update it. If it messes up again, repeat but place the game on the internal instead (or vica versa).
I've been using disc for my booting by loading the game through multiman first then going to the app_home folder. Before changing CFW (Geo ->OFW->Kmeaw) I have the game in the internal HDD, if that makes any difference. I wasn't going to use the external, so I'm just using if for storage until I can get an eSata cable. So updates work for rogero?
Updates should work with rogero. Discless can cause problems on some games though, so that might be your problem. Try downloading the update from the psn links on brewology, then updating the game from usb. If that doesn't help you, you might have to use the disc boot method. You just put any disc in the game, load the BM, select your game, and click on the disc instead of the app_home folder. It will load the game selected in the BM instead of whatever game you actually have in the blu ray drive.
I haven't been using discless since changing CFW. Playing backups without the backup manager is a bit of a pain, so that is what I've been doing since. I have been using the Awesome Update finder, where I got the update PKG from. Would that work, or is brewology better?
That's discless. If you boot from the disc icon its more compatible. And I got all my game updates from brewology before I updated to 3.55. Now I get them from the xmb, direct from sony, whenever loading a game (without being signed in). Also, make sure you get the one for the correct region of your disc/game data. I tried using the BLUS update for 3d dot game heroes and it wouldn't work because the data I was using was from a BLES disc. You can check the titleid of game data by opening the param.sfo file in a PS3 SFO editior.
Well I know that my Fallout NV is the US version, but how do I use the update finder in brewology? I'm looking at it and it asks for my PS3 address and some FTP info, do I have to use an FTP on the PS3 to get it working or what?
Yeah, you open up either MultiMan or Blackbox FTP on your ps3, then type the ip address it gives you on your computer. Also, you can find the actual update and web address for it in the PSN links section. Oh, and blackbox ftp has a screen timeout that makes it go black, if you push the analog in any direction or press any button it wakes up (just so you don't think it froze or rebooted).
