Question regarding external HDD - Noob
Question regarding external HDD - Noob –

Hello all,
Been reading the forums for quite some time and just installed cfw on to my PS3.
I got God of War 3 with my console, and decided to try and rip it to the internal hdd...I noticed it is 30+GB!!
Is there a way to boot games from an external hard drive yet? If not, is something like that in the works?
I'm not going to be able to fit much on my PS3 if all of the games are about 30GB...
There are so many that I want to play...Sad.
Thanks.
Oh, and unbelievable website here. Great help, forums, news and tutorials. LOVE IT!

OK...I've got that.
So, do I use the install to External Hard drive feature? So, a game from the Blu Ray disc gets copied to the external hard drive, and then can be booted from the external drive?
Or, and I able to use a drive formatted in NTFS in order to install a game?
I hope those two questions make sense.

Booting from external works fine. The external hard drive has to be formatted to FAT32. For that reason, games with individual files over 4gb cannot be played from external and have to be transfered to the internal (unless using the psarc trick, few games compatible). I wish NTFS would work, but I don't see NTFS support anytime soon. Possibly UFS support, which would accomplish the same thing and propably be easier to incorporate, but I don't really know.
