question about replacing disc drive on ps3
question about replacing disc drive on ps3 –
okay so i have a 1st generation ps3 i bought like 2nd week of ps3 release. well like 5months ago it got the YLOD i tryed reflowing it but didnt work
so i have this ps3 with yylod im gonna buy a broken one on craigslist with a broken disc drive for 25$ looks the same 4usb sd slots.
sooooo is it as easy as just buy this broken one take my old disc drive out an replace in this one? im just worried i need the exact model or something.
Just send it to Sony thats the only way the YLOD will go away
well im not even trying to fix the ylod anymore. and anyways wont they just reflow it which only last like a month.
but i just wanna replace disc drives
thanks for reply
i understand but y if you cant play on it?
There are companys if your in the uk that reflow them, http://www.hanger.org.uk/h/hangershop/, If you use the swap drive method it has to be the same type of drive (to the best of my knowlage all 60gbs are the same) some 80gb have got diffent lasers to 60gb and other 80gb. If your on cfw there is a way to marry a new drive up tho i hav'nt use it. I'll look for the link and get back to you on the last bit.
thats the exact kinda thing i was worried about.
