Not trying to be a dick, but if you may want to put some periods at the end of you sentences. That way readers can read your post without trying to figure out what your trying to say, thus making a helpful resonse more likely.
not sure since I didn't own the boath models however when i was ordering lasr for one of them they needed to know which one I had. That makes me thiink there are differences. However with some hardware modding it could be possible. I remember I used to use Playstation 1 lasers on different models all the time when I was into repairing them. This was only about the lenght of the orange cable. I bought the lasers with the longer cable since they were better. The housing was made of alluminum instead of plastic so it didn't wear and tear as mutch. The modification was rather easy and I only needed to cut some plastic away. By defenition PS3 should be lot harder to modify. I never tried this out however if you don't want to modify anything you are lout of luck since they seem to be very differente. Some input from someone who compared the two lasers could be welcome here. I only know they won't fitt from start. Howver if you dremell away anything is possible. Before you do that and destroy it compare the electronic parts so you know it will work after you modified it. I know the more advanced the parts are the harder it is to make them fit in another modell. For instance you will need to remarry the board and the drive so many things that need to fitt to make it work. One option is if you are god at electronics is to find the little part in your laser that is broken and use another laser to fix it by canibalising parts from it. It's often cheaper to buy the parts itself then destroying a working laser however some parts are so special you can't buy them at all. I myself only replaced the laser point part before the mirror on some red lasers however blu lasers are harder since they are more precisly aligned. To align them you would need some very expensiv instruments.
Because of this it's mutch easyer to just buy the laser for your modell and remarry it to the board. It's really expensiv so buying a new machine is an option to....
If you would have just googled "PS3 replacement disc drive" you'd see hundreds of links explaining that the old 60GB and 20GB models had completely different lasers to any other (hence the bw compatibility) so in short no. If I am wrong feel free to correct me.
