So I got a PS3 slim and the bluray drive refused to spin. I took it apart and it would accept the disc, but not spin it. It seemed the laser didn't do anything (no lights or any effort whatsoever) so I ordered a replacement drive. I replaced the circuit board and put in said drive, but it just acted weird. As you'll see in the video, it accepts the disc, spins it (hard...) and the laser just sucks. Watch: youtu[dot]be/0jnrQLoWn5U
That's what it does. For blurays and dvd's it just makes angry noises as you saw, and for CD's it reads them but struggles. Can anyone tell me what went wrong? Thanks.

i just got done with a ps3 that had this same issue but it was a fat model, i downgraded it and remarried the drive but it still acted kind of "funny". after i remarried the drive 4 or 5 times, i then went back to 3.55, but before i tried a game i replaced the laser, and now the system is working great, like new. i can tell you a bad laser can emit ultraviolet light, i have replaced a few of these that looked as if they would work, but they were just a weak beam of light i guess. a laser thats going out can make the system act funny, as this is what i believe the problem was with the ps3 i just fixed

    good luck
