Hi guys, first post here.. I have a phat ps3, and while trying to add interior lighting, i fried the blu-ray drive section of the motherboard. I read somewhere that i would need to replace the motherboard, and since i'm definitely not interested in doing that, i just removed the disc drive. The rest of the ps3 works fine (movies, music, pics) but any time i try to play any of my downloaded games, it just goes to a black screen (like it's going to load the game) and then after a minute or so the display will flicker once, and then it will just freeze on a black screen. I just got through the 8002F14E error from updating (had to hook my drive back up) but i took the drive back out. So i guess what i'm asking is: well... is there any way to save my hard drive info and put it on a slim ps3? Is there any way to save my old ps3? Thanks in advance guys.

if the mother board is fried where the bluray drive attaches to then that meansyour games will no longer work as the logic board will no longer work so unless you get that new board you just got a media player for your films an music.
