As far as i am aware the filesystem the PS3 uses is not 'readable' in windows or any OS. I may be wrong and tbh it would be great if it is possible.
PS3 HDD is not readable under Linux as well. I tried it with the 320GB HDD that came with my Slim.
You can read the PS3 HD by ftp from a PC. I don't know the format of the drive, but it is readable.
open in windows Computer Management -> Disk Management (on the left side)
mybe the hdd i just offline?
With clmepe method, i can see the hdd with the message "not iniatialised". I can only format my hdd...![]()
As I said your PC will not 'read' the filesystem of the PS3 drive, yes you can use FTP software to copy/move data as they work across platforms. But when it comes to working on the drive attached to a PC you simply cannot do anything with the data on the drive, only, as you say format it. Even Linux cannot read the PS3 filesystem and that OS is far better than windows (in this regard anyway)
The only option in windows that you will have is to format the drive to a readable file system, then mount it so it can be read in windows, but it will wipe your data. We need a xdrive360 app like what's available for the 360. I was just thinking about this the other day. If transfering anything over 10gb it would be faster to take the drive out, plug it into your pc, copy over the stuff you need, then plug it back into the ps3 and enjoy.
only solution for this is failoverflow .he connect ps3 hdd to pc copied linux boot files u can see in demo video
Huh, they stated that they used ftp and ssh, nothing about connecting the ps3 hard drive to a pc and manipulating the files from there. I didn't watch the video and I guess I coulda missed it in the text. Why would they release all their other tools and not that though?
