PS3 - Game PADDING ? (Resistance has 1.87GB of padding....can it be removed?)
PS3 - Game PADDING ? (Resistance has 1.87GB of padding....can it be removed?) –
I have been trying to backup the PS3 game Resistance - Fall of Man and to get it to work on an external hard drive. The most recent version of multiman says you can split the file(s) bigger than 4GB and it will automatically re-join just the split file on the internal, but I keep getting a "black screen".
However, forgetting about that for a second, I noticed that the Resistance game has files called "Auto_Generated_Padding_x.bin" (in this case "x" goes from 0 -59). There are 60 of these files (counting "o") and they are located in the "BCES00001\PS3_GAME\USRDIR\packed\movies\muxed\nts c" folder. In total, they make up 1.87GB of extra space.
I researched this issue and it is believe that this "padding" was simply added so that the game would fill the outer reaches of the blu-ray game disc since games apparently run faster the closer they are to the outer rim.
Anyway, I would like to know if I can DELETE these padding files or if it will affect playback in multiman. I am unable to test this theory yet myself since I still cant get the game to load after i split the "game.psarc" file.
Just wanted to see if anyone knows or has tried it. If they are not needed, then they should be deleted to save hard drive space.
I tried to provide as much info as possible. I know that my low post count will instantly qualify me as a noob, but rather I am simply just not a regular contributor. I do visit psgroove every day.....I just figure that I learn more from listening than from speaking.
Thank in advance.
